Ride the wave in 2024
New Year - New Ideas…
The new year is coming in hot! How do we get ready for what’s to come? Here’s a sneak peek at our BIG 3 IDEAS shaping the world of People, Purpose and Culture.
1. Wellbeing. The new GDP?
The Kingdom of Bhutan has measured their growth since 2008 using the gross national happiness index. It's designed to move beyond GDP measurement, taking a holistic view of social development. Earlier this year Australia released our first National Wellbeing Framework - measuring what matters. The framework created in conjunction with the Integrated Science of Wellbeing from Oxford Press and contributions from 21 experts around the globe. With this macro change in play, it begs the question; how are you adopting this change in your organisation? How are you measuring the wellbeing of your team? Are you rewarding and recognising progression in wellbeing scores? If not now, then when?
2. Growth of the Gig Economy
Made popular by early adopting Tech industry, the idea of fractional work and freelancing is becoming more mainstream by the day. We’re seeing professions from marketing managers to hair stylists, from start-up advisors to C-Suite execs taking the plunge into the gig economy. While there’s still much fear from traditional business models and command and control style Leaders, one thing we know for sure is, the tide is coming in, our question to you is, how will you embrace it and turn this into an opportunity?
3. Will a bot take my job?
For over a decade we can attest to the greatest fear we see in workplaces is the fear of becoming irrelevant. It has always been generational “will the new kid on the block take my job?” And now in 2023, it has a new name - FOBO (fear of becoming obsolete) being driven by the rise in A.I and movements such as the great resignation in 2021 and the mass walkouts in 2023 known as the hot strike summer in the US, UK, Canada and Europe have demonstrated the deepening of that same fear. How to we prevent becoming obsolete? Upskill in ways that bots never can. Care. Love. Compassion. The human skills that drive the need for connection and belonging. A.I can never replace the fundamental human need to feel valued and cared for. How are you realising this in your workplace?
