Your Questions Answered: Remote and Hybrid Work

Your questions answered.

While working online and remotely has become the new normal in the past couple of years, it takes more than functional technology to let go of decades of patterning and come into flow as a collective.

As experts in People, Culture and Impact, we get asked A LOT of questions. Here are some of the most common ones our team gets peppered with about remote/hybrid working conditions:

What format of online or hybrid work should my team adopt?

Firstly, talk to your team and understand their needs. One size does not fit all. Empower your team to have the autonomy to decide… and to set their own norms.

When teams set their own rules, they are far less likely to break them.

How do we ensure our online meetings are still just as impactful?

  1. Make sure your meetings are engaging and interactive; don't let them become lectures.

  2. You should be hearing from everyone, and if you’re not, ask yourself, why were they on the call in the first place?

  3. Allocate a facilitator to draw out responses from everyone, to be accountable to the ‘team norms’, and keep an eye on the time.

  4. Leaders should be observant online and recognise when someone needs a one-on-one, away from the group.

  5. It may sound strange, but set norms as to how you can “interrupt” each other. How can team members jump in, with respect for one another?

  6. And finally, don’t forget about the meetings outside your team! Ensure you still have regular and structured connections between teams (cross-functional). Siloed teams lead to wasted effort and a lack of clarity.
