Many organisations lean into the ‘E’ component of ESG, and under-develop the ‘S’ and ‘G’. All three pillars are equally important in the New World of Work, where each organisation and business improves the wellbeing of everyone it impacts at all scales.
Why now?
In 2022, the Australian Government announced that ESG reporting will soon be mandatory for some organisations. The move mirrors what's happening in New Zealand and the UK, and increasingly across the US, Canada, Europe and Asia.
So far, the Australian Government has committed to requiring mandatory disclosures on governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics and targets. Throughout 2023, international guidelines were co-designed and issued to help everyone get on the same page. The Australian Government are currently completing their final consultation on rolling out these mandates.
