Your Behaviours are Your Culture

Cultures that walk-the-talk.

Organisational Values represent the beliefs that guide and motivate us as a business.

They should be unique, actionable, representative, and empowering.

They should help your organisation to thrive. Behaviours support your values. They are the practical application of your values – translating them into day-to-day actions.

Behaviours clarify what you expect your people to do.

How do your people connect to your Values?

  1. When was the last time you reviewed and refined your Organisational Values? Are they still relevant and impactful today?

  2. And if they are, when was the last time you referenced them?

  3. Do your teams regularly connect to them through storytelling?

  4. Are they embedded through your entire organisation, through policies, practices and cultural norms?

  5. Are they being measured and reported on, shaping what GREAT looks like in your organisation?

It may be time to regroup, to bring together your organisation, and to talk all things VALUES.

Remember, culture is 10x more predictive of someone leaving than pay or benefits (MIT, 2021).

In short, your values are your culture.

Peel back the layers - what do YOU value?

Our values represent what matters to us the most. They give meaning to everything we do, and they influence our attitudes and behaviours.

Our values determine how we show up each day, including…

  • How we react to situations

  • How we we work with others

  • How we give and receive feedback

  • How we prioritise our time and energy

  • How we lead and support others

  • How we view our selves and others

  • How we find meaning in our work and lives

Have you explored your own values, and how they show up in your life, personally and professionally?
