Ticking Items off the World’s To-Do List

The world has a to-do list. How can your organisation contribute?

You may have heard about the United Nations 17 goals for Sustainable Development (SDG’s), a set of actionable goals committed to by 151 Nations to address global issues by 2030 like ending poverty, overcoming inequality and confronting the climate crisis…

Similarly, other organisations have shown up in support. EY have recently released the 'World's To-Do List' - a creative way to cultivate the Global Goals to life, and ignite discussions surrounding collective action. Led by Project Everyone, a not-for-profit creative communications agency steered through director, writer and UN SDG advocate Richard Curtis, this campaign is forefronted by a range of the world's largest companies and brands going by the tag Business Avengers.

Another initiative gaining momentum, London Climate Action Week (LCAW) an annual event that unifies global climate communities and professionals both across London and beyond to come together and formulate functional solutions to climate change.

To encourage the Global Goals campaign message, a massive 'World's To-Do List' sticky note will be revealed on EY's London Bridge office throughout LCAW from the 21st of June to the 4th of July. The sticky will feature Goal 11 of the SDG's: Make Cities Sustainable (as displayed below). A few of their global initiatives being;

  • Launching a 10-year zero-carbon Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), this supports the structuring of a new solar power station project ensuring majority of electricity that EY utilises continues to be zero-carbon, whilst also creating an excess of renewable energy that can be fed back into the grid.

  • Creating a Green Pensions Charter warranting sustainably invested pensions for their employees globally.

"Progress on climate change requires action across borders and business functions as well as between governments, industries and communities. That is why being able to connect during London Climate Action Week is so important – it will provide a platform to collaborate and develop practical solutions to climate change that will ultimately drive a more sustainable, low-carbon future."
